Software Engineer on Platform (AI Infrastructure)

Location: San Francisco office, on-site

Salary: $200K–$325K annually, plus equity

What you will do

• Scale the core API and document processing pipelines for higher throughput and lower latency.
• Reduce infrastructure and model-serving costs while maintaining quality and reliability.
• Improve Kubernetes and containerized deployment workflows, observability, alerting, and operational safety.
• Build internal tooling, evaluations, and debugging workflows for faster failure detection and resolution.
• Partner with ML and backend engineers to optimize LLM and model-serving paths in production.
• Act as a technical lead for platform and backend projects as the team grows.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience building, hardening, and scaling production backend or platform systems.
• Hands-on experience with distributed systems, Kubernetes or similar orchestration, cloud infrastructure, observability, and incident-driven reliability work.
• Strong Python skills, or deep expertise in another backend language with readiness to work primarily in Python.
• Experience with Terraform or infrastructure as code, containerized deployments, and production debugging.
• Fluency with LLM coding tools such as Claude Code, Codex, or Cursor.
• Experience leading projects or small teams and communicating with founders, engineers, and customers.

Nice to have

• Infrastructure experience at an early-stage or high-growth startup.
• Experience with AI infrastructure, model serving, agent platforms, developer tools, or high-throughput APIs.
• Meaningful experience with Terraform, Kubernetes, queues, Postgres, observability, or cloud cost optimization.
• Customer-facing experience or the ability to translate customer pain into platform improvements.
