TL;DR

Photo Editor (WIRED): Curating and producing visual content for daily news coverage with an accent on breaking news photography, editorial standards, and cross-team collaboration. Focus on managing complex photo shoots, creating photo illustrations, and shaping the creative visual direction across digital and social platforms.

Location: Must be based in London, UK. Hybrid role with four days per week in the office (Monday - Thursday).

What you will do

• Execute daily photo research for wired.com and act as the first point of contact for news coverage.
• Commission and produce complex editorial photography for feature stories under tight deadlines.
• Collaborate with editors, designers, and the Director of Photography to determine the visual approach for stories.
• Create original visual content, including photo illustrations, graphics, and collages.
• Manage the curation of breaking news images and maintain an extensive database of emerging photography talent.
• Cover large news and cultural events, occasionally outside of standard business hours.

Requirements

• Proven experience in photography, media, or a relevant editorial field.
• Strong portfolio demonstrating expertise in digital and print editorial photography.
• Proficiency in Photoshop and experience in creating artistic treatments like collages.
• Extensive knowledge of image copyright law, artist rights, and licensing standards.
• Experience managing multiple complex projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to commute to the London office four days a week as required.

• Experience with writing.
• Degree in photography, studio art, or a related field.
