DevOps Engineer (Embedded)

TL;DR

DevOps Engineer (Embedded): Designing and developing build systems and automation infrastructure for the operating systems powering next-generation Spectacles wearable devices with an accent on CI/CD pipeline optimization and developer tooling. Focus on driving AI-Native workflow integration, supporting global software engineering teams, and ensuring high-quality builds on experimental hardware platforms.

Location: Must work in the Santa Monica office 4+ days per week

What you will do

• Develop and maintain build, integration, and automation systems for a custom operating system.
• Provide optimized solutions for local development and continuous integration to support engineering teams.
• Build automation and reporting infrastructure for pre-production and in-production hardware/software testing.
• Collaborate with global software teams to bring up builds on experimental hardware platforms.
• Implement AI/LLM tools within CI/CD and development workflows to boost developer velocity.
• Contribute to product quality by regularly using and improving the systems supporting development.

Requirements

• Must be able to work on-site in Santa Monica, CA, 4+ days per week
• BSc or MSc in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
• 2+ years of experience with Unix/Linux environments.
• 2+ years of experience in build systems or automation.
• Strong scripting skills in Python and Shell.
• Expertise in Git (LFS, hooks, bisect, merge strategies, repo, submodules, Gerrit) and CI/CD tools like Jenkins, Github, or TeamCity.

Nice to have

• Experience with Google Cloud (Compute Engine, BigQuery) or AWS.
• Familiarity with Gradle, Bazel, CMake, or GNU Make.
• Experience with AOSP builds, Yocto, or automated embedded device testing.
• Proficiency in leveraging AI tools like Copilot, Cursor, or ChatGPT.
• Knowledge of binary artifact management tools (JFROG Artifactory) and static analysis reporting (SonarQube).
