What you will do

• Design and build backend systems for agentic workflows, including retrieval pipelines and orchestration layers.
• Optimize LLM-powered workflows, focusing on prompt design, caching, and latency reduction.
• Develop and operate robust evaluation frameworks (automated and human-in-the-loop) to measure agent success.
• Implement human-in-the-loop systems to ensure AI outputs remain trusted and accurate.
• Collaborate with product and data teams to align technical architecture with customer needs.
• Evaluate and integrate cutting-edge advances in LLMs and retrieval architectures.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience building and operating backend systems in production.
• Proven experience building or evaluating agentic/LLM-powered systems and retrieval-augmented generation.
• Strong proficiency in Python and familiarity with backend frameworks, APIs, and production infrastructure.
• Experience with search/retrieval systems such as Elasticsearch, Pinecone, or PostgreSQL.
• Familiarity with cloud infrastructure (GCP/AWS/Azure) for scalable, high-availability systems.
• Must be based in or able to commute to Vancouver, Toronto, or London.

Nice to have

• Experience designing multi-agent systems or complex orchestration workflows.
• Contributions to AI/ML open-source projects.
• Understanding of ML fundamentals like precision, recall, and bias-variance trade-offs.
