DevOps Database Engineer

Salary: $110,000 to $135,000

What you will do

• Own end-to-end performance and tuning of SQL and NoSQL databases including query optimization and indexing strategies.
• Prevent performance regressions via load testing, performance analysis, and CI/CD validation gates.
• Collaborate with application teams on schema design and data modeling for relational and NoSQL databases.
• Design and operate production-grade database systems with replication, failover, backup, and security controls.
• Define and validate backup and disaster recovery strategies meeting RPO and RTO objectives.
• Lead incident response and maintain operational dashboards, alerts, and runbooks.

Requirements

• Location: Must be based in or able to work from Salt Lake City, Utah, United States
• Hands-on experience with production-scale SQL and NoSQL databases and troubleshooting under pressure.
• Experience with managed cloud database services such as AWS RDS, Aurora PostgreSQL, MongoDB Atlas, DocumentDB, DynamoDB.
• Strong skills in performance tuning, indexing, query optimization, backup/restore, and scalability design.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform), CI/CD pipelines, and automation-first mindset.
• Knowledge of security best practices including IAM, encryption, secrets management, and compliance controls.
