Staff Software Engineer

TL;DR

Staff Software Engineer: Driving the design and implementation of new features and re-architecting existing systems for real-time financial flexibility products with an accent on distributed architectures and microservice integrations. Focus on designing robust microservice integrations via REST/gRPC APIs and leading cross-team engineering initiatives.

Location: Remote (US), occasional travel to Mountain View HQ. If located within a commutable distance from Mountain View, a 2-day-a-week hybrid policy applies.

Salary: $215,167 to $262,981

What you will do

• Drive the design & implementation of new features and/or re-architect existing systems.
• Design & deliver robust microservice integrations via REST/gRPC APIs.
• Collaborate and mentor other senior engineers while providing thoughtful guidance using code, design, and architecture reviews.
• Contribute to defining technical direction, planning the roadmap, escalating issues, and synthesizing feedback to ensure team success.
• Participate in hiring and onboarding for new team members.
• Lead cross-team engineering initiatives.

Requirements

• 7+ years of development experience in backend or full-stack software development, including IC Leadership experience
• Bachelor's, Master’s, or PhD degree in computer science, computer engineering, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent industry experience
• Expertise in trade-off analysis for distributed architectures.
• Proficient in at least one modern programming language, and the ability to understand more than one - we currently work in Kotlin and C#
• Familiarity with the clean architecture approach.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
