Software Engineer II (Backend): Building and maintaining backend services and APIs for Grow’s medical record systems, including notes, invoices, measures, and exports with an accent on data modeling, service modularization, and secure data access. Location: Must work onsite from our NYC, San Francisco, or Seattle hub location three days per week (Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday) and travel 2–3 times per year.

What you will do
- Build and maintain backend services and APIs that power Grow’s medical record systems, including notes, invoices, measures, and exports.
- Contribute to the design and implementation of canonical care data models that support reporting, billing, and partner integrations.
- Participate in the transition from monolith to domain-aligned services, helping modularize core care workflows.
- Improve system reliability and visibility by adding logging, metrics, tracing, and operational dashboards.
- Support secure data initiatives, including encrypted storage and role-based access controls.
Requirements
- You have 1–2 years of professional experience as a backend or full-stack engineer working in a production environment.
- You have experience building APIs and working with relational databases.
- You care about clean architecture, well-structured data models, and writing maintainable code.
- You enjoy collaborating across teams to build systems that serve multiple stakeholders.
