TL;DR

Data Scientist (Finance): Develop advanced statistical and machine learning models to analyze complex financial datasets and support commercial finance strategy with an accent on financial forecasting, pricing optimization, and causal inference. Focus on designing experiments, building predictive models, and collaborating with engineering to deploy models in production.

Location: Hybrid, office near Porto, Portugal. Must be based in or able to work from Portugal.

What you will do

• Apply statistical methods, time series analysis, and machine learning to model financial performance and forecast key metrics.
• Design and execute A/B tests and causal inference studies to measure financial impact and provide actionable recommendations.
• Collaborate with Data Engineering to develop and optimize data pipelines for financial reporting and analysis.
• Engage with senior finance and commercial stakeholders to translate complex data into strategic insights.
• Create and maintain dashboards and visualizations to track financial and commercial KPIs.
• Work with engineering teams to deploy and monitor predictive financial models in production.

Requirements

• Must have 2-3 years experience in data science or quantitative analysis, preferably in finance or fintech.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a quantitative field such as Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, or Financial Economics.
• Strong foundation in statistical inference, econometrics, regression, and machine learning.
• Expertise in Python, SQL, and advanced forecasting techniques including time-series modeling.
• Ability to communicate complex analytical findings clearly to executive-level finance and commercial audiences.
• Experience with GCP, Databricks, and data visualization tools like Looker is a plus.
