TL;DR

Staff Backline Engineer (Data & AI): Troubleshooting and resolving complex technical issues in the hirify.global Data and AI ecosystem with an accent on deep forensic analysis, root cause identification, and architectural optimization. Focus on building scalable diagnostic tools, improving product supportability, and ensuring stability of high-scale production workloads.

Location: Dallas, Texas; San Francisco, California; Vancouver, Canada. Must be based in the US or Canada.

Salary: $87,100–$154,000 USD

What you will do

  • Conduct deep forensic troubleshooting of Spark core internals and the broader Data & AI ecosystem to resolve high-priority failures.
  • Perform advanced code-level root cause analysis and resource profiling to ensure system stability and reliability.
  • Optimize architectural performance and execution parameters to maximize resource efficiency and throughput.
  • Analyze global issue trends and collaborate with Product Engineering to influence product roadmap and improve supportability.
  • Develop automated workflows, reproduction frameworks, and AI-driven diagnostic tools to scale operational excellence.

Requirements

  • Must have 10+ years of relevant experience in one of the specialized tracks: Data Engineering, Product Supportability, or AI.
  • Strong expertise in Spark, Delta Lake, Hive, distributed systems, or large-scale ML systems depending on track.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Scala, Java, or SQL.
  • Must be located in the US or Canada as the role is onsite in Dallas, San Francisco, or Vancouver.
  • Experience managing customers and technical stakeholders with a customer-obsessed mindset.
