Senior Staff Engineer (AI): Building and optimizing next-generation agentic AI products and scalable systems with an accent on architectural strategy, high-performance distributed systems, and API design. Location: Remote-first. Must be based in the United States; British Columbia & Ontario, Canada; Ireland; United Kingdom; Mexico; or Argentina.

Compensation: US Zone A: $220,000-$285,000 USD; US Zone B: $207,000-$268,000 USD; US Zone C: $194,000-$251,000 USD. Canada (ON & BC): $251,000-$324,000 CAD. Eligible for company-wide bonus program.

What you will do

• Partner with engineering leadership, EMs, and Product Managers to define and deliver AI products.
• Architect scalable, high-performance systems that support a growing number of AI-powered products.
• Drive technical strategy and make architectural decisions that compound.
• Own the engineering quality, reliability, and performance of AI products.
• Define long-term backend and infrastructure architecture for major product initiatives.
• Lead API and service design strategy across domains and improve system performance.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience building and operating distributed systems in high-availability, customer-facing environments.
• Experience architecting and scaling large backend systems across multiple teams or product areas.
• Deep expertise in distributed systems design (consistency models, fault tolerance, scaling patterns, observability).
• Hands-on experience designing and scaling multi-region environments in AWS or GCP.
• Strong experience with containerized systems (Kubernetes, EKS/GKE, ECS).
• Fluent in infrastructure-as-code tooling such as Terraform or Pulumi.

Nice to have

• Experience evolving fast-moving growth systems into durable, scalable platforms.
• Experience supporting AI-assisted product experiences.
• Experience in platform-heavy domains such as payments, APIs, or core backend services.
• Experience at high-growth or smaller companies where you owned architectural direction.
