Location: Hybrid in Birmingham, Manchester, Bristol, or London, UK (3 days in office)

What you will do

• Lead, grow, and hire engineers specializing in TypeScript, Java, or other OOP languages, AWS, Kubernetes, and GitLab CI/CD.
• Provide technical leadership and architectural direction, maintaining high engineering standards.
• Contribute to code, design reviews, and technical decision-making where it adds value.
• Build and evolve cloud-native platforms using Kubernetes and AWS-managed services.
• Collaborate on the platform roadmap, championing automation and DevOps practices.
• Mentor engineers and senior ICs, supporting technical and career growth.

Requirements

• Strong experience in TypeScript (preferred) or another object-oriented programming language, with 4+ years of professional software development.
• Solid hands-on experience with AWS and cloud-native architecture principles.
• Experience designing and operating GitLab CI/CD pipelines.
• At least 2 years’ experience leading engineering teams, including hiring, mentoring, and performance management.
• Practical experience with Kubernetes in production environments and modern IaC tools like Pulumi.
• Strong understanding of DevOps and SRE principles, with an automation mindset.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with Dynatrace or similar observability platforms.
• Experience building or operating internal developer platforms or shared platform services.
• Experience working in large-scale or enterprise environments.
