Location: Hybrid in Redmond, United States. Employees within a 50-mile commute of a designated Microsoft office in the U.S. are expected to work from the office at least four days per week.

Salary: USD $139,900 – $304,200 per year

What you will do

• Build and own production machine learning models to improve search results.
• Work hands-on with SOTA generative models (Qwen, Llama, Mistral, GPT) to deliver significant impact.
• Derive insights and form hypotheses from large-scale data using ML, feature engineering, statistical, and data mining techniques.
• Design experiments, understand resulting data, and produce actionable, trustworthy conclusions.
• Wrangle petabytes of data using various tools and programming languages (Python, C#, R, C++, Java, SQL).
• Communicate complex problems and data answers concisely to assist senior executives in making key business decisions.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related field AND 6+ years related experience (e.g., statistics, predictive analytics, research)
• OR Master’s Degree in a related field AND 4+ years related experience.
• OR Doctorate in a related field AND 3+ years related experience.
• Hands-on experience with LLMs or SLMs such as Qwen, Llama or its variants.
• Professional working experience on prompt engineering with large LLMs like GPT, Gemini, Claude etc.
• Ability to meet Microsoft Cloud background check requirements upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
