What you will do

• Define and drive the long-term technical vision and strategy for critical services within the VCF vCenter portfolio.
• Spearhead the architectural design and development of highly scalable, reliable, and performant distributed services.
• Contribute significantly to the hands-on implementation of core system components.
• Identify and resolve complex technical challenges, acting as a key troubleshooter and problem-solver.
• Collaborate seamlessly with product management, quality engineering, and other teams to translate business goals into technical solutions.
• Enforce the highest standards for performance, scalability, and security across system design and implementation.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree plus 12+ years of experience in software development, with at least 5 years in a lead architect or principal engineer role focusing on distributed systems (or Master's with 10+ years, or PhD with 7+ years).
• Proven ability to lead and mentor engineering teams.
• Deep understanding and hands-on experience with various distributed systems concepts (e.g., distributed databases, consensus algorithms, fault tolerance, consistency models).
• Proficiency in C++ is required; additional languages like Python, Java, or GoLang are a plus.
• Deep knowledge of database concepts and experience with Postgres desired.
• Experience with virtualization technologies, particularly the VMware stack (vSphere, ESXi), is highly desirable.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
• Must have legal authorization to work in the US.
