Platform Engineer (Fullstack)

Platform Engineer (Fullstack): Building and optimizing an Internal Developer Platform to enhance the Engineering Experience with an accent on reducing cognitive load and improving feedback loops for developers. Focus on streamlining software development, guiding platform teams, and implementing features like Software Catalogue, Paved Roads, Templates, and TechDocs using cloud-native technologies.

Location: Hybrid working, partly from home and partly from the office in The Hague, Netherlands.

What you will do

• Enhance the Engineering Experience within NN Group by delivering and evolving the Internal Developer Platform (IDP) as a new product.
• Guide and support platform teams in successfully landing on the Zelda IDP, ensuring a structured, timely, and predictable transition.
• Build and run the Backstage-based Internal Developer Portal, leveraging technologies like TypeScript, Node.js, AWS, Kubernetes, PostgreSQL, and OpenSearch.
• Improve processes and developer experience, focusing on automation, integration, and adopting an API-first approach and Domain Driven Design.
• Implement and manage authentication mechanisms (RBAC, OAuth2, IAM), CI/CD pipelines, automated tests, and write great documentation.
• Introduce InnerSource mechanisms to co-create selected platform features and ensure a strong security mindset (SAST/DAST, Threat Modeling).

Requirements

• Proficiency in cloud technologies (mostly AWS) and understanding of serverless architectures.
• Experience with containerization (Kubernetes on AWS) and new developments such as GitOps (ArgoCD) and cloud resource orchestration (Crossplane).
• Strong focus on automation, integration, prioritizing security, costs, and reliability.
• Experience with TypeScript, Node.js, React, PostgreSQL, OpenSearch, and Backstage for portal development.
• Understanding and application of API-first approach (MACH architecture), Domain Driven Design, Authentication, RBAC, OAuth2, and IAM.
• Project management skills including coordination, organization, collaboration, and communication skills.
