TL;DR

Manager, Systems Engineering (AWS/Cloud): Leading and mentoring a systems engineering team to design and implement robust cloud architectures for global product capabilities with an accent on optimizing product development velocity, fostering discussions on core efficiency, and solving production problems. Focus on authoring and reviewing infrastructure-as-code, enabling product teams with self-serve tools, and ensuring high standards for security, performance, and reliability in SaaS products.

Location: This role is available to candidates across Canada. If you are local to one of our hubs (Burnaby, Calgary, or Toronto) you will be expected to be in office minimum two days per week for our Anchor Days.

Compensation: $176,000–$264,000 CAD

What you will do

• Define vision and support your team in designing and implementing architecture to power new global capabilities for hirify.global's customers.
• Author, review, and ship infrastructure-as-code in hirify.global’s cloud environments.
• Enable product teams to self-serve issues and reduce the time-to-resolve for production issues by smoothing friction points through automation and creating observability tooling.
• Directly supervise, mentor, and collaborate with individual contributors and build cross-functional relationships across the engineering organization.
• Partner with product development teams to ensure all hirify.global’s products meet a high bar for security, performance, reliability, availability, and change velocity.
• Work closely with the recruiting/people team to actively recruit and hire top talent to support hirify.global’s ambitious growth plans for infrastructure and development teams.

Requirements

• Demonstrated success in people leadership in systems engineering, particularly in large-scale SaaS products.
• Competency in at least one software development language.
• Deep experience designing, deploying, and operating AWS infrastructure and managed services (like RDS, EKS, Lambda) at scale.
• Diverse base of knowledge that allows you to help your team solve complex technical problems.
• Demonstrated ability to hire the best and brightest engineers and to coach, develop, and retain engineering talent.
• Growth mindset when it comes to process improvement and new technologies, especially AI.

Nice to have

• Experience with Kubernetes (EKS) on AWS in production environments.
• Prior experience working with software teams building and shipping applications to the Cloud.
• Hands-on experience with FinOps in the cloud infrastructure space.
