Stairway Games is looking for a full-time Game Programmer to develop and continue feature development for Coral Island — a re-imagined farm sim inspired by classic titles. The game was released into Full Access in 2023 and continues to expand with new features and improvements.
The team develops using Unreal Engine (4.27 and 5.1), with most systems built in C++. Strong Unity Programmers are also welcome — a 2-week training and transition period is provided for candidates without Unreal experience.
You will collaborate closely with game designers, 3D leads, animators, and QA to prototype, implement, polish, and ship gameplay features.
🚀 Responsibilities
• Implement gameplay features in Unreal Engine 4/5 using C++
• Prototype and iterate on game mechanics
• Optimize the game for high performance
• Collaborate with 3D modelers and animators to polish features using production-quality assets
• Work with Game Designers to build tools for editing and tweaking gameplay
📚 Required Skills
• Strong understanding of algorithms
• Passion for gaming
• High work ethic and commitment to quality
• Solid English reading and writing skills
• Understanding of Object-Oriented Programming concepts
👍 Nice to Have
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a game-related field
• Experience shipping a published game
• 2+ years experience in a game studio using Unity or 1+ year using Unreal Engine
