Senior Fullstack Engineer (Fintech)

TL;DR

Senior Fullstack Engineer (Fintech): Building and optimizing financial and business systems for a fundraising platform with an accent on unit economics visibility, data correctness, and scalability. Focus on architecting incremental solutions, integrating across finance and operations, and ensuring system reliability.

Location: This is a remote-first role based in the U.S. Team members are expected to attend multiple company-wide and team-specific onsites throughout the year.

What you will do

• Work on the full stack, from UI elements to backend services, including database tuning and performance.
• Iterate quickly, building new features from start to finish, including architecture design, coding, automated testing, and production support.
• Work closely with and support teammates in a fast-paced, agile development environment.
• Tackle a wide variety of technical issues throughout the stack and contribute to all parts of the codebase and shared documentation.
• Contribute to team-wide initiatives including coding standards, tech debt refinement, and system security monitoring.
• Participate in interviewing and onboarding new team members and refining interviewing processes.

Requirements

• Strong experience with Ruby on Rails or another mature MVC framework (e.g., Django).
• System design experience with a focus on architecting scalable and resilient solutions.
• Comfort working across the stack, including backend services, databases, and light frontend work.
• SQL database experience (PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQLite).
• Experience with deployments to Heroku, AWS, or similar platforms.
• 5+ years of hands-on development experience.
• Comfort working with financial concepts such as margins, COGS, pricing, or revenue recognition.
• Ability to work with non-technical stakeholders and translate ambiguous business questions into concrete technical work.

Nice to have

• Deep expertise with Ruby/Ruby on Rails and RSpec.
• Experience with Postgres database administration.
• Shipped code that has supported tens of thousands of users, including enterprise/business customers.
• Operations experience pertaining to site reliability/speed.
• Experience working on a fundraising/crowdfunding platform or a fintech/payments technology product.
• Experience working in a startup environment.
• A good eye for intuitive, user-friendly front-end design.
• Experience building internal tools or platforms used by Finance or Operations teams.
