TL;DR

Animator (GameDev): Crafting captivating gameplay animations for a yet-to-be-revealed 3rd person tactical shooter, ensuring alignment with technical specifications and artistic vision. Focus on applying advanced 3D animation principles and refining motion capture data to create realistic character and creature movements.

Location: This role offers hybrid options, with primary work from our studios in Oxford or Warwick, UK. Applicants must have the permanent right to work in the UK, as visa sponsorship is not provided. A relocation package to the UK is available.

What you will do

• Create consistent high-quality gameplay character and creature animations.
• Apply 3D animation principles (timing, exaggeration, weighting/scale, ease in/out, overlapping actions, anticipation, secondary motion, framing, squash/stretch, arcs, perspective).
• Collaborate with other disciplines and interpret feedback to create engaging animations.
• Develop an understanding of our custom game engine and tools.
• Clean, blend, fix, and polish motion capture data to a high standard.
• Track daily tasks using JIRA and provide mentorship to juniors.

Requirements

• Good understanding of 3D software such as Maya, Motion Builder or equivalent animation software.
• Good understanding of acting techniques, cinematography, and visual storytelling.
• Able to animate realistic character and creature motion.
• Ability to collaborate with technical animators in relation to rigging and skinning.
• Good knowledge of production pipelines and workflows.
• Proficient game development enthusiast with a passion for gameplay animation and experience with Motion Capture data.
