Senior Security Research Engineer (Cybersecurity)

TL;DR

Senior Security Research Engineer (Cybersecurity): Performing research into cloud threats, vulnerabilities, and abuses, and developing detection rules as code for hirify.global's Falcon Cloud Security product ecosystem with an accent on cloud security best practices and threat detection. Focus on translating research into deployable detection content and identifying abuses and attacks on cloud services and assets.

Location: New York City (Hybrid). Candidate should be comfortable visiting the office twice a week once the development center is established.

Salary: $140,000 - $215,000 per year.

What you will do

• Perform research into cloud threats, vulnerabilities, and abuses to define security best practices.
• Develop and deploy detection rules as code into the FCS product ecosystem.
• Author descriptions for customers to understand and action generated alerts.
• Apply skills in security operations, incident response, data analytics, risk management, and software development.
• Collaborate across the team in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements

• Professional experience in cloud security-related operations and engineering roles (threat detection, incident response, risk management).
• Experience with data analytics tools (Elastic Search, Splunk, SIEM) and searching large datasets.
• Practical knowledge of at least one Cloud Service Provider (AWS, Azure, GCP, OCI).
• Understanding of industry security standards and control frameworks (NIST, CISA, CIS, HIPAA, HISTRUST, PCI).
• Experience developing and deploying code in formal software development/CI/CD workflows (BitBucket).
• Experience in a DevOps or similar role requiring Python and Go.
• Proficient in English with strong written and verbal communication skills.

Nice to have

• Experience writing detection rules with Open Policy Agent (Rego).
• Experience in a Detection Engineering role.
• Formalized training or certification in cloud computing.
