TL;DR

Senior Applied Scientist (AI/ML): Building and optimizing transformer-based models for ad ranking and outcome prediction with an accent on large-scale data pipelines and noisy feedback signals. Focus on developing robust learning and calibration methods to infer user intent and advertiser value.

Location: Must be based in Sunnyvale, United States (Expected to work from the office at least four days per week)

Salary: $158,400 – $258,000 per year

What you will do

  • Drive modeling and data innovations for ad interaction outcome prediction under partial and noisy feedback.
  • Build estimated conversion models and design data-driven attribution and weak-label generation pipelines.
  • Develop robust learning and calibration methods for scenarios where true user outcomes are sparse or delayed.
  • Design and evaluate multi-task and proxy-signal models to improve offline and online measurement frameworks.
  • Translate modeling advances into production-ready systems that impact ad ranking, bidding, and advertiser ROI.

Requirements

  • Degree in Statistics, Computer Science, Electrical/Computer Engineering, or related field (PhD + 1yr, Master's + 3yrs, or Bachelor's + 4yrs experience).
  • Must be based in or within a 50-mile commute of the Sunnyvale office.
  • Strong programming skills in Python and proficiency in PyTorch or TensorFlow.
  • Experience building and shipping machine learning models in production environments.
  • Solid understanding of supervised learning, multi-task learning, and feature engineering.
  • Practical experience with large-scale data pipelines and A/B experimentation.

Nice to have

  • Experience working with noisy, weak, or proxy labels from indirect user behavior.
  • Background in causal inference, attribution, or counterfactual evaluation.
  • Track record of peer-reviewed academic papers, patents, or speaking at industry conferences.
  • Experience with large-scale online marketplaces or recommendation systems.
