Focus on integrating open-source PQC libraries and analyzing network behavior under lossy conditions.

Location: Hybrid, main place of work is Stuttgart, Germany. Mobile working is possible.

What you will do

• Study IETF drafts, NIST PQC standards, and existing works on PQC integration into IPsec.
• Propose and test fragmentation mitigation mechanisms for lossy networks.
• Extend a selected IPsec stack using open-source PQC libraries.
• Measure handshake message sizes, fragmentation, and performance under simulated lossy conditions.

Requirements

• Enrolled student in (technical) computer science, electrical engineering or comparable field.
• Interest in Cryptography, especially Post-Quantum Cryptography (PQC) and cryptographic libraries (OpenSSL, Botan).
• Experience with Security Protocols (TLS, IPsec).
• Profound understanding of Network Simulation and Secure Programming.
• English: B2+ (Good knowledge of written and spoken English and German required).
