What you will do

• Drive initiatives to design, build, and maintain scalable backend services, primarily using Kotlin.
• Own and evolve service architecture, APIs, and data models within a financial domain, maintaining a high bar for correctness.
• Build and maintain integrations with external providers to enable treasury capabilities.
• Collaborate across teams to deliver end-to-end outcomes and lead technical cross-team initiatives.
• Set technical direction for key parts of the Treasury backend and implement improvements for reliability and scalability.
• Proactively identify and reduce technical debt, guiding the team through technical challenges and migrations.
• Support other engineers through pairing, reviews, and technical guidance, contributing hands-on in code.

Requirements

• Solid experience designing and maintaining backend systems, ideally in domains with strong requirements for correctness and reliability.
• Experience with observability and owning systems in production (monitoring, alerting, incident response, post-mortems).
• Strong understanding of distributed systems fundamentals (async workflows, consistency, idempotency, designing for failures).
• Proficiency in API design, defining clear service boundaries, and integrating with external systems maintainably.
• Expertise in data modeling and safely evolving schemas over time.
• Commitment to strong testing practices and a high-quality mindset.
• Clear communication skills and pragmatic decision-making across teams and stakeholders.
