🦄 Description
TigerRoll Studios is developing a multiplayer action RPG in Unreal Engine 5 set in a dark, low-fantasy universe. The combat is built around the Defensive Trinity of parry, dodge, and block, with heavy, deliberate, high-consequence encounters inspired by Elden Ring–style gameplay.
We are looking for an experienced Gameplay Combat Animator to join us on a freelance, hourly basis. This role focuses on refining, editing, and extending high-quality marketplace animation packs rather than creating animations entirely from scratch. You will be responsible for delivering combat animations that feel weighty, responsive, and immediately usable in Unreal Engine 5.
🚀 Responsibilities
• Modify and extend existing combat animation asset packs to match project-specific combat design
• Create variations such as converting root-motion attacks into in-place versions while preserving style and weight
• Polish animations by fixing foot sliding, refining timing and spacing, and ensuring realistic weight transfer
• Fully own UE5 implementation, including import, retargeting, and root motion validation
• Prepare animations for Motion Warping and Stride Warping workflows
• Ensure animations are plug-and-play and function correctly in Unreal upon delivery
• Maintain high gameplay readability and consistency across the combat animation set
📚 Required Skills
• Strong portfolio demonstrating third-person melee combat animation
• Deep familiarity with Unreal Engine 5 animation pipelines, including skeletons, retargeting, and root motion
• Proven experience editing baked animation data with strong graph editor skills
• Solid understanding of combat game feel, responsiveness, and animation timing
• Ability to deliver production-ready animations that require no additional technical cleanup
• Experience working independently in a remote, freelance setup
👍 Nice to Have
• Experience with Cascadeur or similar physics-assisted animation tools
• Experience setting up Animation Montages and Anim Notifies
