Location: Remote globally, except for individuals located in or nationals of Belarus, Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Russia, Syria, Crimea Region of Ukraine, Donetsk People’s Republic (“DNR”), and Luhansk People’s Republic (“LNR”) due to export controls.

What you will do

• Lead initiatives to deliver an industry-leading search engine offering unparalleled speed and relevance in search.
• Contribute full-time to hirify.globalsearch, building new search features and fixing bugs, often involving new algorithms or data structures.
• Work with a globally distributed team focused on hirify.globalsearch search capabilities.
• Act as an expert in hirify.globalsearch search relevance, identifying and driving improvements.
• Collaborate with community members on issues and pull requests.
• Write idiomatic modern Java code for hirify.globalsearch.

Requirements

• Professional experience with search and vector databases, using algorithms like HNSW or IVF on search platforms at scale.
• Strong skills in core Java, conversant in standard library data structures, concurrency constructs, and features like lambdas.
• High level of autonomy, able to take on and guide projects from beginning to end, covering technical design and collaboration.
• Comfortable with collaborative development, including giving and receiving feedback on code, approaches, and APIs.
• Experience with data storage technologies like hirify.globalsearch, Solr, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, or Cassandra, understanding their functionality.
• Excellent verbal and written English communication skills required.

Nice to have

• Experience building things with hirify.globalsearch.
• Familiarity with open source projects, source control workflow, and continuous integration.
• Experience designing, leading, and owning cross-functional initiatives.
