Director of Technology (DevOps & Release)

TL;DR

Director of Technology (DevOps & Release): Modernizing tools, platforms, and engineering practices for secure, reliable, and high-quality member experiences with an accent on leading DevOps, Release Engineering, and Developer Experience teams. Focus on evolving CI/CD pipelines, automation strategies, and engineering workflows in partnership with Technology, Product, Security, Risk, and Compliance.

Location: Must be a resident of WA, OR, ID, AZ, TX, or CA. Hybrid for those in Washington state near Tukwila (Tuesdays & Wednesdays in office); fully remote for others within approved states.

Salary: $199,300–$243,800 annually.

What you will do

• Develop and execute a strategic technology roadmap that aligns with business objectives.
• Spearhead the modernization of platforms, embracing Cloud, API, and DevOps best practices.
• Lead and mentor engineering and delivery teams, fostering collaboration and excellence.
• Oversee the adoption of agile methodologies to improve delivery speed and quality.
• Ensure scalability, security, and resilience across enterprise technology solutions.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with business leaders to align technology investments with member needs.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science or related field.
• 7+ years of people leadership experience, with experience working within or supporting DevOps, SRE, and/or Cloud operations teams.
• 8+ years of information technology experience with demonstrated expertise in DevOps, cloud infrastructure, and automation (CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure as Code, configuration management).
• Domain experience with financial products (e.g., Credit Card, Mortgage, Auto Loan, Deposits).
• Experience building technology platforms and teams.
• Strong understanding of cloud platforms (Azure), containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes), scripting languages (Python, Bash), and CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitLab CI, Spinnaker).

Nice to have

• Experience in strategy development for cloud migration, DevOps implementation, and test automation.
• Advanced knowledge of Technology fundamentals, design, problem solving, and complexity analysis.
• Experience communicating with users, technical teams, and product management.
• Delivery experience working under an Agile/Scrum methodology.
• Working experience of software engineering best practices including coding standards, release management, and operations.
