Location: This position is onsite in Hawthorne, CA. To conform to U.S. Government export regulations, applicants must be a U.S. citizen or national, a U.S. lawful permanent resident (green card holder), a Refugee, or an Asylee.

Salary: $160,000.00 – $220,000.00/per year

What you will do

• Create highly reliable software systems that control hundreds of satellites in low earth orbit.
• Leverage software design to improve satellite constellation performance, security, and availability for various users.
• Manage the full software lifecycle, from core needs and prototyping to development, testing, and on-orbit rollout.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to design and build next-generation satellite capabilities, including sensors and space-based cloud compute.
• Write high-quality Linux-based C++ software for common processors and microcontrollers.
• Implement networking technologies to direct data across satellites, ground operations centers, and users.
• Build automated ground-based software systems that integrate smart data processing with satellite command and control.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, math, or a STEM discipline with 5+ years of software development experience; OR 7+ years of professional software development experience.
• Development experience in C/C++ or Python.
• Must obtain and maintain a Top Secret Security Clearance as a condition of employment.
• Applicant must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. lawful permanent resident, Refugee, or Asylee to conform to U.S. Government export regulations.

Nice to have

• Developed and deployed software used in real-world applications and projects.
• Knowledge of computer architecture and networks.
• Experience with debugging, performance optimization, and unit testing.
• Experience with networking protocols (TCP, UDP).
• Experience developing in the Linux kernel or with C++ for high performance systems.
• Experience with image data processing and machine learning.
