Advanced Data Engineer (Fintech)

TL;DR

Advanced Data Engineer (Fintech): Building and testing system components and data transformations in accordance with the technology development life cycle with an accent on database development, quality assurance, and system implementation. Focus on developing stored procedures, packages, and data validations for import/export activities, primarily using SQL Server and PowerBI.

Location: Hybrid in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, Canada. Employees are expected to comply with the firm’s most current workplace model, which as of October 1, 2025, includes spending at least four full days each week working in an hirify.global office.

Salary: $70,000–$74,000/year CAD

What you will do

• Build and unit test system components and amendments according to the development life cycle.
• Develop data transformations and validations, primarily on SQL Server and PowerBI.
• Ensure all tasks conform to documentation, coding, and quality standards.
• Support user acceptance testing and perform quality assurance tests on other developers' work.
• Prepare documentation and processes for ongoing system support.
• Provide third-tier support escalation and participate in business recovery exercises.

Requirements

• Minimum 3-5 years’ experience in database development, including stored procedures, packages, and data transformations.
• Experience with SQL Server, PowerBI, and Python for data import/export activities.
• Full participation in software development methodologies (Scope, Requirements, Design, Development, Testing, Deployment).
• Solid experience working in project teams and with third-party vendors.
• Experience with Agile software development.
• Excellent verbal and written English skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with Stonebranch UAC, Sterling Connect Direct, Business Objects, or Embarcadero Studio.
• Financial Services domain experience.
