Systems Engineer, SSL/TLS Team

TL;DR

Systems Engineer (SSL/TLS Team): Building and improving systems for issuing, managing, and deploying TLS certificates to ensure millions of websites have access to encryption. Focus on ensuring system reliability at hirify.global’s scale, integrating multiple services via message queue systems, and migrating logic to a modern services architecture.

Location: Hybrid in Austin, TX. This position may require access to information protected under U.S. export control laws.

What you will do

• Build services with RESTful APIs and datastores using Go and other languages.
• Write and maintain functional specifications for your service.
• Integrate multiple services via message queue systems.
• Evaluate 3rd party and open source tools.
• Design and implement alerts, write procedures for ops to handle such alerts, and serve as an escalation point for unresolved operational issues.
• Migrate logic from a legacy codebase to a modern services architecture and review the code of fellow engineers via pull requests.

Requirements

• 3+ years of professional experience building backend systems at a technology company.
• Experience writing production-quality code in Go (or other languages with a willingness to learn Go).
• Proven experience building and operating distributed systems.
• Proficiency with modern Unix/Linux development and runtime environments.
• Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills with attention to detail.
• Track record of delivering well-tested, reliable code for production environments.

Nice to have

• Experience designing and building RESTful APIs and full-stack applications.
• Familiarity with PKI/TLS concepts and certificate management.
• Experience writing technical documentation and specifications.
• Working knowledge of SQL and relational databases such as PostgreSQL.
• Understanding of distributed systems constraints: performance, caching, data storage/retrieval.
• Experience with message queues (Kafka, RabbitMQ, etc).
