Backend Engineer

Product: BidPoint is an AI-driven startup in GovTech
Location: Germany
Salary: ~5-6k euro (gross)
Type: Full-time | Remote
Language: fluent Eng.
The role: you’ll join a small, working directly with the founders
Focus: Scalable data handling, search engines, and large-scale document storage

Stack
Core: Node.js / TypeScript
Database: Deep PostgreSQL expertise (schema design, indexing, sharding, extensions like PostGIS)
Optional: Python, React/Next.js

Experience
• 5-8+ years in product-driven companies (BigTech or high-load product startups)
• Database Mastery: You understand what happens under the hood of an ORM
• Independence: Ability to dive into unfamiliar domains and complex document structures without hand-holding
• No outsource background

Responsibilities
• Design and scale high-performance APIs using Node.js, TypeScript, and NestJS
• Optimize complex PostgreSQL schemas and queries for large datasets
• Architect microservices for document processing, indexing, and search (Elasticsearch)
• Integrate LLM-powered features (OpenAI/Claude) for automated tender analysis
• Take full ownership of product features with minimal guidance in a flat structure
