Engineering Manager, Traffic Management

Focus on prioritizing the team's roadmap, and achieving cross-functional objectives while solving problems of massive scale and significance.

Location: London, UK or Lisbon, Portugal - with the expectation of at least 2 days per week of in-office attendance.

What you will do

• Hire, mentor, and coach a distributed team of Software Engineers.
• Convey project status and resolve blockages using various tools and processes.
• Influence project scope, work across teams, and unblock projects by understanding technical implications.
• Organize on-call rotations, handle customer escalations, and oversee incident response and follow-up for production services.
• Work with Product Managers and other Engineering leaders to communicate the vision and prioritize the team's roadmap.

Requirements

• 3+ years experience as an Engineering Manager for a team of Software and Systems Engineers.
• Demonstrated track record of managing a team including hiring, onboarding, and professional development.
• Excel at planning and overseeing execution to meet commitments and deliver with predictability.
• Technical background in technologies such as Layer 3 and Layer 4 networking and HTTP, TLS, and CDN networks.
• Experience with monitoring, alerting, and debugging large-scale distributed systems.
• Clarity in written and verbal communication.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of TCP/IP and Internet routing.
• Systems-level programming experience in Go, Python, Rust, C, or C++.
• Knowledge of statistical-analysis techniques and control theory.
• Experience building tools and APIs.
