Forward Deployed Engineer, Applied AI (Federal Civilian)

Location: Hybrid role, expecting staff to be in one of our US offices (San Francisco, CA, New York City, NY, or Washington, DC) at least 25% of the time. Frequent travel (25-50%) to customer sites required.

Salary: $280,000 - $320,000 USD annually

What you will do

• Build production applications with Claude models within customer systems, ensuring they meet requirements.
• Deliver technical artifacts like MCP servers, sub-agents, and agent skills for production workflows.
• Provide white glove deployment support for hirify.global products in national security environments.
• Identify and codify repeatable deployment patterns, contributing insights to Product and Engineering teams.
• Maintain strong knowledge of the latest developments in LLM capabilities, implementation patterns, and AI product development stacks.
• Build long-term relationships with customers and proactively identify new AI deployment opportunities.

Requirements

• 4+ years of experience in a technical, customer facing role such as Forward Deployed Engineer, or as a Software Engineer with consulting experience.
• Production experience with LLMs, including advanced prompt engineering, agent development, evaluation frameworks, and deployment at scale.
• Strong programming skills with proficiency in Python (TypeScript, Java are a plus).
• High agency with an ability to navigate ambiguity in complex organizations and a high cooperation mindset for cross-organizational collaboration.
• Strong communication skills to conduct discovery with customers and convey technical concepts to diverse stakeholders.
• Must have prior experience working with US federal civilian, state, or local agencies.
• At least a Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience required.
