Principal Applied Scientist (AI)

TL;DR

Principal Applied Scientist (AI): Building production-level Machine Learning models and integrating them into large-scale data pipelines with an accent on solving challenging problems related to quality and coverage of shopping data assets. Focus on designing, creating, and using state-of-the-art algorithms for scalable artificial intelligence solutions and anticipating/solving data pipeline issues.

Location: Cairo, Egypt. Employees are expected to work from the office at least four days per week if they live within a 25-mile commute of a Microsoft office in a non-U.S. country-specific location.

hirify.global’s Online Shopping team is a collaborative and interdisciplinary team building novel solutions to global online shopping by leveraging Applied Scientists, software engineers, Data engineers, and Product Managers.

What you will do

• Independently create product impact by applying, improving, or creating research-backed solutions.
• Leverage your network and expertise to attract research talent and build trusted relationships with stakeholders.
• Perform and provide leadership for documentation processes for work in progress, experimentation results, and plans.
• Drive discussions around ethics and privacy policies related to research processes and/or data collection.
• Champion innovative principles and forward-looking technologies related to industry trends and advances.
• Oversee and guide the architecture of scalable machine learning/data ETL pipelines across multiple business units.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related field AND 6+ years related experience.
• OR Master’s Degree in a related field AND 4+ years related experience.
• OR Doctorate in a related field AND 3+ years related experience.
• Must work from the office at least four days per week if within a 25-mile commute of a non-U.S. Microsoft office.

Nice to have

• Master’s Degree in a related field AND 9+ years experience OR Doctorate in a related field AND 6+ years experience.
• 3+ years experience presenting at conferences or other industry events as an invited speaker.
• 7+ years experience conducting research as part of an academic or industry research program.
• 5+ years experience developing and deploying live production systems within a product team.
• 7+ years experience developing and deploying products or systems across multiple points of the product cycle.
