TL;DR

Data Governance Manager (Data Architecture): Leading and implementing data governance frameworks, policies, and standards for a major UK business with an accent on establishing data as a strategic asset and ensuring data quality. Focus on defining data ownership, metadata management, data lineage practices, and driving continuous improvement in data governance.

Location: Hybrid (3 days in office, 2 days remote) in one of the following UK locations: London, Birmingham, Bristol, or Manchester, United Kingdom.

What you will do

  • Lead the development and implementation of data governance frameworks, policies, standards, and procedures.
  • Define and manage processes for monitoring data governance policies, metadata, and data lineage.
  • Establish data ownership and stewardship models with clear roles and responsibilities across the organisation.
  • Oversee data stewardship activities to maintain high data quality and consistency.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders across business units to ensure buy-in and sponsorship of data governance initiatives.
  • Mentor and coach a team of data professionals and contribute to shaping the data transformation program.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in leading data governance programs and implementations.
  • Strong understanding of data governance frameworks (e.g., DAMA), applications, processes, and principles.
  • Knowledge of data models, lineage, and enterprise data platforms.
  • Ability to document and visualise data flow from source to consumption.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders on data governance topics.
  • Must be able to work in a hybrid format, 3 days in office, from London, Birmingham, Bristol, or Manchester, United Kingdom.
