Software Engineer (AI): Designing and operating high-scale distributed services and data pipelines for Search Places with an accent on AI-native systems and LLM integration. Focus on building scalable cloud-hosted systems on Azure to transform web-scale data into trustworthy place signals.

Location: Barcelona, Spain (Hybrid: expected to work from the office at least four days per week)

What you will do

• Design, build, and operate production-grade distributed services on Azure for data ingestion, transformation, and storage.
• Develop AI-native systems leveraging state-of-the-art LLM technologies to automate workflows and improve engineering efficiency.
• Build high-throughput data streaming solutions and large-scale batch processing pipelines capable of running AI workloads.
• Write high-quality, testable, and maintainable code while participating in active code reviews.
• Apply security, privacy, and responsible AI principles to ensure safe deployments and regulatory alignment.
• Collaborate with applied scientists and product managers to deliver end-to-end search experiences.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related technical field.
• Engineering experience with coding in C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python.
• Experience designing and building scalable, high-availability distributed systems.
• Experience building AI-powered systems as part of production services.
• Familiarity with developing, deploying, and troubleshooting cloud-hosted services.
• Must be able to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check.
