TL;DR

Member Of Technical Staff, Machine Learning (AI): Creating LLM models for general purpose capabilities and products with an accent on developing new training methods, collecting data, and evaluating LLMs. Focus on producing high-quality code, creating new user-facing features, and supporting Microsoft products with AI.

Location: Zürich, Switzerland. Starting January 26, 2026, employees are expected to work from a designated Microsoft office at least four days a week if they live within 25 miles of that location.

What you will do

• Improve model quality for interactive and agentive experiences using subject matter expertise.
• Oversee data acquisition or generation efforts, ensuring data meets model needs.
• Generalize machine learning solutions into repeatable frameworks.
• Lead evaluation efforts of models, including those deployed within Microsoft products and the Cloud API.
• Track advances in industry and academia, identifying state-of-the-art research for innovation.
• Write efficient, readable, extensible code and model pipelines independently.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related technical field.
• 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python.
• Demonstrated engineering or research experience (e.g., creating a feature, complex graduate work, research papers).
• English: B2 required.

Nice to have

• Doctorate in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Human-Centered AI or related field with 2+ years experience (e.g., finetuning models, data quality, creating AI products).
• Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning, or related field with 5+ years experience (e.g., managing structured/unstructured data, developing/debugging models).
• Bachelor’s Degree with 7+ years data-science experience (e.g., applying machine learning techniques, driving product direction).
• Experience prompting, evaluating, and working with large language models.
• Experience writing production-quality Python code.
