Systems Engineer (Traffic Management)

TL;DR

Software Engineer (Traffic Management/Networking): Building and extending systems for dynamically routing traffic into, through, and from hirify.global's global network with an accent on network performance, scalability, and distributed systems architecture. What you will do

• Build and extend various traffic management and supporting systems.
• Collaborate with Network Engineering, Product Engineering, and other teams on ambitious initiatives.
• Participate in all stages of the software development lifecycle, from designing to managing production software deployments.
• Work with a wide range of technologies and programming languages, including Go, Python, Rust, eBPF, ClickHouse, Salt, PostgreSQL, Prometheus, and Kubernetes.
• Be responsible for the health of systems and actively participate in team's on-call rotation.

Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years of engineering experience with networking and/or distributed systems.
• Systems-level programming experience in Go, Python, Rust, C, or C++.
• Solid grasp of networking protocols in Layers 3 and 4 of the OSI Model.
• Knowledge/interest in HTTP, TLS, and CDN networks.
• Experience/interest in network performance monitoring and tuning.
• Strong collaboration and communication skills.

Nice to have

• Experience building or developing capabilities in the domain of traffic engineering including automated load balancing and traffic prioritization.
• Knowledge of statistical-analysis techniques and control theory.
• Knowledge of TCP/IP and Internet routing.
• Experience building tools and APIs.
• Experience with monitoring, alerting, and debugging large-scale distributed systems.
• Experience participating in an on-call rotation.
