Salary: $133,000-$163,000 per year

What you will do

• Lead social impact evaluations and support carbon removal reviews assessing community impacts, social risks, and human rights considerations.
• Refine and expand social impact methodologies including qualitative and mixed-method frameworks and governance assessments.
• Advise internal teams and clients on social dimensions of carbon management, environmental justice, and equitable project development.
• Analyze and synthesize qualitative and quantitative data from fieldwork, interviews, and policy landscapes to generate actionable insights.
• Support project developers and investors on social safeguards, benefit-sharing, and culturally grounded project design.
• Collaborate across interdisciplinary teams to integrate community impact considerations into technical assessments and client recommendations.

Requirements

• PhD or Master’s with significant applied experience in environmental anthropology, political ecology, human geography, sociology, or related social sciences.
• Experience evaluating social impacts of environmental, climate, or infrastructure projects.
• Demonstrated fieldwork or qualitative research experience in diverse cultural and political contexts.
• Applied experience in federal/state agencies, tribal governments, land management, international development, consulting, NGOs, or multilateral institutions.
• Strong grounding in environmental justice, social equity, or human rights frameworks applicable to decarbonization.
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced interdisciplinary environment.

Nice to have

• Experience evaluating social risks in carbon removal, carbon markets, or climate infrastructure.
• Familiarity with international safeguards frameworks (FPIC, IFC, Equator Principles), development finance, or ESG standards.
• Experience designing or participating in community engagement processes.
