Software Engineer II (Backend)

TL;DR

Software Engineer II (Backend): Building production-ready, scalable web applications and backend services with an accent on database performance, search technologies, and distributed systems. Focus on completing autonomous projects, collaborating on solutions, and optimizing processes using Scala, Elasticsearch, Postgres, Kafka, and AWS.

Hybrid - Lisbon, Portugal. Legally authorized to work in the EU. Desire to work in a highly remote/distributed but collaborative environment.

What you will do

• Complete assigned tasks that are comprehensive and thought out.
• Proactively collaborate with team members to find the best solutions.
• Form opinions while seeking input from diverse team members on problem-solving.
• Recommend solutions to enhance processes and navigate unforeseen issues.
• Anticipate small roadblocks and manage expectations on effort needed.

Requirements

• 3+ years relevant software development experience.
• Experience building production-ready, scalable web applications.
• Proficiency in at least one modern programming language (ideally Scala and/or Java).
• Experience with Elasticsearch and/or Postgres.
• Fluency in English (verbal and written).
• Legally authorized to work in the EU.
• Willingness to take on-call responsibilities.

Nice to have

• Experience with End-to-End, Integration, and Performance testing.
• Exposure to enterprise systems.
• Worked in a company with a strong US presence.
