Technical Specialist

TL;DR

Technical Specialist (System Engineering): Developing and optimizing solutions for mission-critical technology systems with an accent on security, systems administration, and database management. Focus on incident management, automation with Python, and ensuring system stability and scalability.

Location: 100% on-site at the client’s office in Medellín, Antioquia, Colombia. This role requires working rotating shifts 24/7.

What you will do

• Administer and operate IBM i and UNIX operating systems.
• Perform incident management, troubleshooting, and problem resolution to ensure system stability.
• Develop scripts and automation using Python; create dashboards and reports for performance monitoring.
• Analyze basic performance metrics and provide actionable insights.
• Collaborate with engineers, architects, and product teams to deliver high-quality solutions.
• Coach and mentor team members on best practices for secure, scalable, and highly available systems.

Requirements

• Minimum 4 years of experience in system administration and operations.
• Basic knowledge of IBM i operating system and UNIX administration.
• Experience with Server Systems and Storage Systems.
• Proficiency in Python scripting for automation and reporting.
• Familiarity with monitoring tools and ability to interpret performance metrics.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to manage incidents effectively.
• Strong communication skills to interact with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Nice to have

• Experience with Power BI for reporting and visualization.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or related field.
• Professional certifications such as Master Certified Technical Specialist.
