Backend Engineer (Python): Designing and optimizing modular, scalable, and performant backend systems for a smart saving and investing app with an accent on API design, database performance, and microservices architecture. Focus on identifying root causes of system issues, implementing short-term and long-term resolutions, and driving continuous improvement across the software development lifecycle.

Location: Hybrid working model, with 2 days a week in the office. Offices are in London, Athens, or Cyprus. Additionally, 45 work-from-anywhere days are provided annually.

What you will do

• Design and create modular, scalable, testable, and performant systems which interface via well-defined endpoints.
• Identify root causes of system issues and determine short and long-term resolutions.
• Work and intervene on the whole life cycle of the software.
• Promote continuous improvement by identifying process efficiencies and quality improvements.
• Provide guidance to and mentor more junior team members.
• Share product insight with stakeholders and challenge product decisions.

Requirements

• High level of pragmatism, adaptability, and flexibility.

• Comfortable working within a cross-functional, collaborative environment.
• Ability to partake in and contribute to technical, design, and retrospective dialog.
• Comfortable working with both strongly and dynamically typed languages, with an emphasis on overall programming skills and problem-solving.
