What you will do

• Design, implement, and optimize backend services powering APIs, integrations, and developer tools.
• Own database performance and reliability including schema design, indexing, and query optimization for PostgreSQL and ClickHouse.
• Build and maintain high-throughput ingestion pipelines with Kafka for structured financial data.
• Develop secure and efficient data access APIs for internal and external use.
• Improve observability with logging, metrics, tracing, and alerting across backend systems.
• Collaborate with engineers, product, and domain experts to build reliable backend systems supporting AI-powered financial workflows.

Requirements

• Location: Remote with preference for London, England, GB.
• 5+ years of backend engineering experience in data-intensive or high-scale systems.
• Strong SQL and database design skills, especially PostgreSQL.
• Proficiency in Python, Go, Kotlin, or similar backend languages.
• Experience with production APIs (REST/gRPC/tRPC) and cloud/container platforms (AWS, GCP, Docker, Kubernetes).
• Familiarity with AI-powered data frameworks, vector and graph databases, and AI observability tools.

Nice to have

• Experience with event-driven architectures and streaming systems like Kafka or Pub/Sub.
• Knowledge of ClickHouse, ElasticSearch, or vector databases for high-performance queries.
• Background in accounting, finance, or enterprise SaaS.
• Exposure to AI/ML applications, LLM frameworks, or retrieval-augmented generation (RAG).
