What you will do

• Lead North American (U.S. and Canada) federal, state, and local tax compliance, reporting, and planning.
• Ensure timely and accurate indirect tax filings (Sales, Lodging GST/HST/QST, Gross Receipts & Excise).
• Prepare and review U.S. and Canada federal, state, and provincial income tax returns and provisions under ASC 450 and 740.
• Partner with Legal, Product, and Finance teams on legislative changes, new product launches, and tax-efficient structuring.
• Coordinate with external advisors and support tax audits and controversies.
• Develop and implement tools and automation to streamline tax workflows and scalable compliance processes.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or Master’s in Tax preferred.
• 4–7+ years of experience in U.S. state and local sales tax, including transaction taxes for a digital marketplace.
• Mix of public accounting (Big 4 / regional firm) and in-house tax experience.
• Working knowledge of income tax concepts, ASC 450, and ASC 740.
• Familiarity working with product and engineering teams on tax logic and automation.
• Proficiency in Excel; experience with Avalara and Netsuite desired.

Nice to have

• Lodging and travel-related tax experience.
• Working knowledge of Sequel and Google BQ.
