What you will do
- Provide hands-on leadership for a cross-functional engineering team, including line management, coaching, and mentoring approximately 5 engineers.
- Engage in the full software development lifecycle, from requirements gathering to building, testing, deployment, and production support.
- Continuously identify and implement improvements in products, processes, and practices to reduce friction and waste.
- Champion automated testing, continuous integration, and continuous deployment.
- Work across different specialisms and technologies as needed to ensure tasks are completed.
Requirements
- Previous experience leading an engineering team, including line management duties such as personal development coaching and performance reviews.
- Excellent programming and problem-solving skills.
- Understanding of relevant software design patterns and paradigms (e.g., OOAD, DDD, MVC, microservices, containers/orchestration, event-driven architecture).
- Experience in creating performant, scalable, secure, and well-tested code.
- Strong sense of ownership of tasks and problems, including clearing roadblocks and collaborating with others.
Nice to have
- Experience working with Investment or Pensions platforms.
- Prior knowledge of Go, gRPC/proto, PostgreSQL, Kubernetes/Docker, TypeScript/Vue, Dart/Flutter is beneficial.
