TL;DR

Senior Backend Engineer (JVM): Building and optimizing the runtime for online JVM applications on the real-time serving path with an accent on service IDL optimization, integration testing, and programming model support. Focus on improving developer experience, velocity, debuggability, resilience, and reliability for all hirify.global engineers.

Location: Remote Eligible (US). Must live in a state where hirify.global, Inc. has a registered entity.

Salary: $204,000–$255,000 USD

What you will do

• Build test frameworks to improve confidence in rolling out large runtime changes.
• Partner with the performance team to enhance cost efficiency.
• Modernize the backend monorepo to use the latest versions of languages and libraries.
• Shape technical strategy impacting developer experience, velocity, debuggability, resilience, and reliability.
• Collaborate with engineering leaders across hirify.global for new capability adoption.
• Act as a player/coach to ensure code quality, commitment to craft, and operational excellence.

Requirements

• 9+ years of industry experience.
• Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree, preferably in CS, or equivalent experience.
• Proficiency in one or more backend server languages (Java, Ruby, Go, C++, etc.).
• Experience with architectural patterns of high-scale distributed products/services, such as well-designed APIs, data pipelines, and efficient algorithms.
• Experience working on distributed systems, API design, and concurrency.

Nice to have

• Instrumentation/telemetry experience.
• Cloud (especially AWS) cost efficiency.
• L7 networking, service mesh, libraries, serialization, or developer tooling.
