What you will do

• Collaborate with data analysts, product managers, backend engineers, and data scientists on cross-functional projects.
• Advocate and implement data engineering best practices and design principles.
• Ensure performant and efficient data access layers in applications.
• Review application code and database queries to improve software performance.
• Design and optimize database queries and storage strategies.

Requirements

• Location: Hybrid work model with presence in Berlin campus 2 days a week
• Strong knowledge of relational databases, data modeling, and SQL for data analysis and transformations.
• Experience with big data infrastructure on GCP or AWS.
• Proficiency with Git, Airflow, Python, SQL, and BigQuery.
• Good verbal and written communication skills in English.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with data privacy regulations such as GDPR or ISO 27001.
• Experience in payment, banking, or financial sectors.
• Knowledge of dbt and real-time data solutions like PubSub/Dataflow.
