Principal Design Director, Publisher (AI): Leading the definition of product experience strategy, interaction design, creative direction, and craftsmanship for next-generation AI-powered products with an accent on leading design teams and evolving design systems. Location: Expected to work from a designated Microsoft office in the U.S. or other country-specific locations at least four days per week if living within a 50-mile commute (U.S.) or 25-mile commute (non-U.S.)
Salary: USD $163,000 – $296,400 per year. For specific locations in the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, the base pay range is USD $220,800 – $331,200 per year.

What you will do
- Lead a team of designers, fostering clarity, generating energy, and delivering results.
- Drive product experience strategy, interaction design, creative direction, and craftsmanship for a v1 product.
- Facilitate cross-team collaborations with other designers, researchers, product managers, product planners, and developers.
- Understand customer behaviors, motivations, and needs to develop relevant and impactful experiences.
- Contribute to strategic product planning through experience roadmaps.
- Propose creative solutions to complex user experience journeys by mapping end-to-end experiences.
Requirements
- Master’s Degree in a design-related field AND 7+ years of experience OR Bachelor’s Degree AND 9+ years of experience in product or service design.
- 5+ years of people management experience.
- Experience leading technical design teams and simplifying complexities into elegant design solutions.
- A link to your design portfolio must be included in your resume.
Nice to have
- Master’s Degree in a design-related field AND 12+ years of experience OR Bachelor’s Degree AND 15+ years of experience in product or service design.
- Demonstrated sense of Interaction Design fundamentals, including accessibility and inclusive design.
- Solid Visual Design skills.
- Excellent communication and presentation/storytelling skills to energize teams and advocate for ideas.
- Experience designing in Figma.
