Senior PHP Developer (Cybersecurity)

Location: Fully remote for UK residents

Salary: Up to £70,000 per annum

Develops a cloud-native cybersecurity platform that helps enterprise and government organisations protect sensitive information through large-scale data collection, correlation, and real-time alerting.

What you will do

• Design, develop, and maintain PHP Laravel backend services and REST APIs.
• Own Elasticsearch implementations, including index design, mappings, query optimisation, aggregations, and performance tuning.
• Design and optimise MySQL schemas and queries for high-volume workloads.
• Build data ingestion and processing pipelines from internal and external sources.
• Design microservices and distributed systems for search, analytics, and alerting use cases.
• Deploy, monitor, and scale services using AWS, Docker, CI/CD pipelines, and supporting observability tools.

Requirements

• 5+ years of backend development experience with strong PHP expertise; Laravel experience is preferred.
• Hands-on production experience with Elasticsearch, including index design, query optimisation, and performance tuning.
• Strong MySQL knowledge covering schema design, indexing strategies, and query optimisation.
• Experience with data-heavy or search-driven systems, API design, microservices, and cloud-native architecture.
• Practical experience with Docker, cloud deployments, CI/CD, automated testing, secure coding, and system hardening.
• Strong problem-solving skills, ownership, and the ability to mentor junior and mid-level engineers.

Nice to have

• Experience with large-scale data ingestion, threat intelligence, cybersecurity, or data protection.
• Knowledge of monitoring, observability, performance profiling, analytics, AI, or LLM-powered features.
• Working knowledge of Python or Java.
