Embedded Software Engineer

TL;DR

Embedded Software Engineer: Developing and maintaining the Tulip OS including bootloader, kernel, and userspace for Tulip hardware with an accent on embedded Linux systems and connected edge/cloud environments. Focus on building large embedded products, system architecture, and collaborating with cross-functional teams.

Location: Budapest, Hungary, hybrid work environment with 3+ days in office per week

What you will do

• Maintain and support the Tulip Operating System including bootloader, kernel patches, and device trees
• Configure and maintain routing, networking, and device configurations on Tulip hardware
• Port the Tulip OS to new hardware targets and support OS toolchain and versioning
• Debug and resolve customer issues in collaboration with support and technical teams
• Support security tooling for firmware releases and release processes

Requirements

• Location: Must be based in Budapest, Hungary with hybrid work 3+ days per week
• 6+ years experience building embedded Linux products
• Proficiency in C, C++, or Rust and experience with OS build systems like Yocto or Buildroot
• Familiarity with shell scripting, hardware buses (I2C, SPI, PCIe), and networking concepts
• Experience working independently and collaborating with interdisciplinary teams
• English proficiency at least B2 level

Nice to have

• Experience designing RESTful APIs and microservice architectures
• Knowledge of Redux, Node.js, Go, Electron, MongoDB, Postgres, WebSockets
• Experience as a team or technical lead
