TL;DR

Senior/Lead Backend Engineer (Java): Designing and building highly performant, robust server-side systems for a global work marketplace with an accent on scalable architecture and API design. Focus on optimizing backend performance, solving complex scalability challenges, and ensuring system reliability under heavy traffic.

Location: Remote (Must be based in Latin America). Requires coordination during core hours (8:00 am to 11:00 pm Pacific Time).

What you will do

  • Design and maintain scalable server-side logic, databases, and APIs.
  • Architect backend systems for performance, reliability, and security.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality solutions.
  • Participate in code and design reviews and provide technical guidance to junior developers.
  • Analyze system performance and participate in on-call rotations to address issues.
  • Engage in Scrum processes including planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives.

Requirements

  • Location: Must be based in Latin America
  • Strong proficiency in Java or Kotlin
  • Extensive knowledge of REST and GraphQL
  • Experience with relational and non-relational databases
  • Experience building or supporting high-load web applications
  • Proficiency with AWS and unit testing frameworks like JUnit or Mockito

  • Experience working with distributed teams
