Senior Machine Learning Engineer (AI)

Location: Foster City, California or Boston, Massachusetts, United States. Workplace: Hybrid.

Salary: $225,000–$305,000 per year base salary, plus potential equity and sign-on bonus.

Zoox is developing a fully autonomous vehicle fleet and the supporting ecosystem for urban mobility-as-a-service, combining robotics, machine learning, and design.

What you will do

• Design and implement detection models using fused sensor data for autonomous driving software.
• Develop joint detection and tracking models and methods for sending rich embeddings to downstream models.
• Train machine learning models and evaluate state-of-the-art approaches through studies, ablations, and model modifications.
• Document experimental results and drive learned models toward deployment on Zoox robots.
• Visualize model inputs and outputs to diagnose perception issues.
• Collaborate with ML optimization, data labeling, metrics, and planning teams to support Zoox releases.

Requirements

• MS or PhD in Computer Science or a related field.
• Experience with PyTorch or related machine learning frameworks.
• Experience deploying learned models into production.
• Excellent collaboration and teamwork skills, with experience working on large-scale problems.

Nice to have

• Experience in autonomous vehicles or a related field.
• Experience with joint detection and tracking models.
• Deep understanding of end-to-end training and evaluation processes.
